A property that a Broker knows is for sale but the owner has, for a variety of reasons, decided not to have advertised in the multiple listing service (MLS) and wants the Broker to show only to prequalified, prospective buyers. The primary reason for a “pocket listing” is typically privacy. Some owners don’t want pictures or other information about their property accessed by the general public over the internet. Sometimes a pocket listing is one that the Broker is going to bring on the market in the future, but the sellers would entertain an offer if the right buyer came along prior to putting it in the MLS.
